Creating the Authentic You

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children” (Proverbs 13:22)

The inheritance is not just in money, but in physical, intellectual, emotional and behavioral characteristics.  To be truly authentic we need to get back to this inheritance and discover what makes us who we are.  Then we can choose to create the person we want to be.

Authentic:  not false or copied; genuine; real

Authentic Leadership is a common theme these days.  Studies have proven that being authentic as a leader allows us to be trusted by those we are leading.  If we are trusted, we are more likely to be followed.

Authentic Leadership starts with being an Authentic Person.  Discover how to get back to the Authentic You by using a process I call ThoughtShredder.  If you’ve grown up in an environment of pain, abuse, neglect, shame, you’ve likely been concealing the events concerning these feelings your whole life.  It’s natural.  Most of us want to be seen as having it altogether, knowing what we want, knowing where we are going and getting there.  We’ve spent a majority of our life covering up and hiding the events in our childhood.  “Don’t tell anyone,” we remind ourselves over and over.  Rather than the phrase, “Never let them see you sweat,”  we live by “Never let them see you at all.”

Spending a lifetime hiding who we are and how we grew up makes it very difficult to suddenly become authentic, but there is help.  ThoughtShredder is a story and a process to help you get to what  created your current values and beliefs, and allows you to question whether they still serve your purpose.

If they still serve your purpose, ThoughtShredder will help you reinforce them.

If they no longer serve your purpose, ThoughtShredder will help you break them down and replace them with new beliefs that get you to where you need to go.
